Looking at an acorn, this beautiful but small round shape, no one would guess it will one day become a majestic, towering tree. The oak tree is the potential of this acorn. Of course, by itself it will not develop. It needs the right conditions, at the right time, and this, through a living whole.

In the same way, on a larger scale, humans are called to become what our ancestors and even we cannot foresee as we do not know what a human with all his potentialities expressed would be like. But we can nevertheless surmise that to develop all these potentialities, we need to understand and reintegrate this living whole.
This fundamental holism, Carl Gustav Jung has seen it in the collective unconscious and its archetypes. Quantum physicist David Bohm in what he named the implicate order which sustains, guides and organizes energy. Not surprisingly also, as it is in all of us, perennial traditions intuitively expressed it through their myths, legends and even used it efficiently in their medical systems.
Most importantly, it is consequently expressed through the brain, an obvious fractal aspect of it. This brain being also an observable physical object, a consensus becomes possible as to the model at its origin. Putting these together, Ariane Page in her book Isis Code describes this ultimate model as the LIFE biosystem (Law Inherent to the Five Elements). |
This is the code of life from and on which each and every one of us unfolds. To know and understand it becomes therefore the key to understand what, why, how and who we are.
The book uses an Ancient Egyptian legend and the Five Books of Moses as well as hundreds of recent results from brain research to bring this code into broad light. It builds itself on this legend from Ancient Egypt which tells us of the god Osiris being murdered and dismembered by his own brother. Isis, his soul mate, immediately embarking on a quest to find and rejoin all of his scattered pieces, vows to bring him back to life. Page shows how, similarly, through our quest for love and happiness, our inner Isis attempts to reconnect, harmonize and blow life into our different levels of human expression so we can truly be.
Isis Code invites the reader to embark on a self-discovery journey through the Reptilian, Mammalian, Human, Analytical and Universal aspects of the human brain- by analogy our physical, emotional, rational and social aspects- to reveal the complete image of the Self. It highlights how the limited point of view we impose on ourselves impacts our perceptions, feelings, health, relationships, everything we create, the quality of our environment, and even our governmental structures.
By combining systems science and the study of the brain, Isis Code provides also insight into the direction evolution is now taking to allow humanity to reach its potential. It is a tool that can allow us better control over our destiny, peace to our hearts and freedom from the dark box our immaturity has unwittingly locked us in.
The LIFE biosystem approach (Law inherent to the Five Elements) sprouted from Carl Gustav Jung's observation of a collective unconscious expressed through two polarities and of his desire to offer a truly scientific psychology. It uses a model intuitively expressed in all the great human traditions and intuited upon by great scientific minds such as David Bohm (the implicate order) to give a truly holistic view of the human levels of expression in which the psyche can develop harmoniously within nature (ecopsychology) and collective soul. Since more than 80% of what we do/think sprouts from the unconscious/ subconscious and the LIFE biosystem works on this percentage to reveal the Self, we can say that the LIFE biosystem approach is Depth Psychology. |

Ariane Page was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She studied and worked in communications as an assistant director for CBC TV Montreal for such renown television shows as Femme d'Aujourd'hui (Today's Woman) and La Semaine Verte (The Green Week). This developed her interest in man-woman relationships as well as in environmental issues. Since two of her siblings had physical handicaps her interest in health sciences was always strong and she became a hygienist-naturopath and managed a natural health clinic for over 30 years. She also studied Education Science at Nanterre University in Paris, France. She is a member of the ISSS (International Society for the Systems Science).
In Paris, she studied naturopathy, psychosomatic medicine, studied and taught yoga and provided relaxation sessions to groups and pregnant women. She co-founded the ANEP, a national organization dedicated to the promotion of prenatal education and co-wrote a book on the subject. She lectured and was interviewed on her ideas of "the feminine" and "the masculine" concepts as well as on prenatal education.
In Paris Ariane also met a respected medical doctor, lecturer, researcher, teacher of medical acupuncture who had developed a model for medicine: "medical biocybernetics". He cured her of her chronic anorexia. They eventually moved to Canada and had two sons. Ariane managed their thriving health clinic and studied the model for close to twenty-five years, developing the non-medical aspects of it. At the same time, she followed her interests in Jungian psychology, religious traditions, art, systems science, and brain research. This resulted in the elaboration of the LIFE biosystem of which Isis Code is the reference book. Ariane now lives in Quebec, where she offers personal consultations on LIFE biosystem's applications. |

The September 2013 Depth Psychology Online Book Club lasts for one month and consists of two elements:
1. An introductory audio interview (Coming soon!) with the author for Depth Insights Radio with host Bonnie Bright. The interview will provide an overview of the topic and give you a chance to hear the author speak about their work.
2. A month-long online written discussion forum (Starts Sept. 1!) hosted in the online community of Depth Psychology Alliance. The author kicks off the month-long forum with an introductory post and assigns selected readings, presents themes, and suggests topics or questions for discussion. The forum is free to join. Due to it's written format, participants can ask questions or make comments at whatever schedule and level of involvement works for them.
