Jungian analyst, Ann Belford Ulanov\u2019s most recent book,\u00a0The Psychoid, Soul and Psyche: Piercing Space-Time Barriers<\/em>, explores Carl Gustav Jung\u2019s concept of the \u201cpsychoid.\u201d<\/p>

\u201cPsychoid refers to unconscious processes that are unrepresentable in word or image,\u201d Ulanov says. \u201cWe live them, but we don\u2019t know about them. And they can make us feel mad, not angry, but crazy, and I believe they can also be a third source of healing.\u201d<\/p>

Jung described the\u00a0unus mundus<\/em>, or \u201cone world,\u201d as more than psychological. It also has social, international, environmental, chemical, and cosmological properties.<\/p>

Ulanov is interested in the effects of experiencing the\u00a0unus mundus<\/em>, or one world, in a clinical setting, especially when it deals with grave matters like the suffering of trauma.<\/p>

We all develop coping mechanisms that help us survive trauma, but over time those mechanisms can also cause us to suffer, as they no longer serve us. The psychoid, with its ability to bring forth an experience of\u00a0unus mundus<\/em>, or one world, can help release us from those defenses\u2026<\/p>
